Shortly after 2115hrs the East Greenbush Fire Dept was transmitted for a reported chimney fire on
Smith Lane off of Hays Road. Car 1 and Car 2 arrived with Car 1 assuming command upon arrival.
Car 2 reported a light smoke condition in the residence and advised Car 4 whom arrived a minute
later and was advised to check for any possible extension. Moments after the Chiefs arrived
Engine 7 and Rescue 11 arrived and began further investigation and conveyed their crews to check
the chimney. Engine 8, Engine 9 and Truck 11 arrived approximately 3 minutes after the first two
due pieces of apparatus, and assisted the crews on the roof. The chains were dropped to loosen
up any debris and creosole. The residence was ventilated and all EGFD fire units were back in
service within approximately 45 minutes.
