At approximately 2140hrs the East Greenbush Fire Dept was transmitted for a reported
structure fire on Palmer Road in the Schodack Center protective district. A quick response
was made by all the Chiefs and apparatus as the department drill night had been complete a
half hour before. The location of the structure made slight difficulty for the fire units
due to the structure being so far off the main road. East Greenbush Car 4 assumed operations
and coordinated a fire attack with Captain M. Benson Jr from E-7 and Captain G. Forgea from
E-8.
Two handlines were put into place and crews rotated around the smoldering structure
which essentially turned out to be a large brush fire by the time handlines were put into
place back in the wooded area off Palmer Road. Mutual aid from East Schodack, Best Luther,
and South Schodack were called in for their ATV's and tanker water. Crews operated on scene
for approximatley 2 1/2 hours.
