At approximately 1941hrs the East Greenbush Communications Center received several calls
for a reported house on fire in the area of the end of Start Avenue. Upon arrival by members
from the EGPD and EGFD it was discovered that an abandoned farm house was on fire. EGFD Car 4
arrived and requested the 2nd due Engine hit the hydrant at Start Avenue and lay to the
fire scene.
The fire building was approximately a 1,000 feet back in the woods off of Start Avenue. A
special call was made for surrounding departments to respond with their ATV's. A code 100
was transmitted along with other mutual aid departments for man-power. Crews operated on
scene from approximately 1941hrs to 0200hrs after stretching approximately 1,600 feet of LDH,
500 feet of 1 ¾" hose, 400 feet of 2 ½" hose and using an ample amount of foam to fully
extinguish the fire.
Units operating on scene from EGFD were Car 1, Car 2, Car 3, Car 4, E-7, E-8, E-9, R-11.
