10/20/2012 Structure Fire Columbia Turnpike Schodack Center
At approximately 1246hrs the EGFD was transmitted for a reported structure fire at a commercial
structure on Columbia Turnpike. CHFD was also transmitted on the alarm with Truck 8 as the
acting Truck 11. Engine 7 with a five man crew arrived under the helm of Capt. M. Benson Jr.
and reported a smoke condition from the west side of the building of a commercial dwelling
with a living quarters on the second floor. E-7 stretched a line to the second floor
dwelling where the fire appeared to be originating from. EGFD Car 4 along with CHFD Cars 1, 2,
and 3 arrived moments after along with Truck 8, Squad 8, Engine 8, and EGFD Car 3. The CHFD
units went to work on the roof with their 6 man crew to check for any further extension in
the cockloft. An aggressive knock-down was made by EGFD and CHFD. The small fire was contained
to a small part of the living room with minimal extension in the attic/cockloft. A signal 20
was transmitted by EGFD Car 4. Units operated on scene for approximately 1 ½ hours. All units
on scene included EGFD Car 3, Car 4, Engine 7, Engine 8, Rescue 11, CHFD Truck 8, Squad 8,
CHFD Car 1, Car 2, Car 3, and Schodack PD.
