06/20-21/2014 Hudson Valley Volunteer Fireman's Assoc. Parades.
The East Greenbush Fire Company participated in the 125th annual Hudson Valley convention. The convention was held June 18th through June 21st and was hosted by the West Glens Fall fire department. On Thursday, 16 members attended the annual red vest outing which was held on the East shore of Lake George. Members were able to network with fellow members throughout the Hudson valley as well as enjoy a nice steak dinner. On Friday night the company put 71 people on the street for the Mardi Gras parade. With our "keep calm and volunteer on" red shirts along with the float and Sparky we were awarded a first place trophy for the parade.
Saturday was the big day with the dress parade stepping off at 1pm sharp. We had 41 members proudly marching down Luzerne Rd representing not only our department but our town and Rensselaer County as well. At the awards ceremony we were awarded a first place trophy for 25+ members in a dress uniform. For years the fire company has participated in this convention and we strive for excellence every time we hit the street.

            Message from Greg Forgea:
This past weekend was one for the books for sure. The EGFD took home first place trophies in both the dress and Mardi Gras parades at the 135th Hudson Valley Fireman's Convention. This year was especially special for me as this was Ryan's first convention. Marching by and seeing the little man watching brought a tear to my eye. Being able to celebrate both wins with him is something I will never forget.
Saturday was also special because I was able to march with my dad, sister and uncle as well as all my other brothers and sisters of the EGFD. The weekend was all about families for sure, many of my brothers were in the same boat as I was with young children watching as their dads marched by for the first time. To everybody that participated this past weekend THANK YOU, we were a force to be reckoned with.
