At approximately 1500 hours on Sunday the East Greenbush Fire Department was dispatched for a reported structure fire in the rear of a business on Columbia Turnpike. First arriving chief officers found a 45ft trailer full of hay well involved. Truck 11 arriving first due opened up the trailer and gained access for the engine crew. The first due engine arrived and stretched two 1 3/4 attack lines as well as a 2 1/2 inch line and began fire suppression. Crews knocked down the bulk of the fire within minutes after arrival but remained on scene for over two hours hitting hot spots and opening up the front of the trailer. A special request was made for one engine/tanker from Clinton Heights to respond to shuttle water. Car 1 operated on scene with 3 engines, 1 rescue, 1 truck company, utility 11 and car 2. At the time of this article the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
