Second Alarm Fire Hits On Frigid Night In Schodack. |
The East Greenbush Fire Department responded to
1611 Columbia Turnpike in the Town of Schodack for a reported structure fire on the back
porch. When Car 1 arrived he called the signal 30 and requested the second alarm bringing
Best Luther, Clinton Heights, Schodack Valley and the Castleton Fire Departments to the scene.

First arriving units pulled two hand lines to the
structure and quickly knocked down the fire on the outside of the home. Firefighters went
right to the roof to start venting the roof and check for extension. Firefighters were able
to stop the fire before it spread to the main house saving the home.

Crews opened up the walls in the fire area but due to quick actions by the first arriving engine
the home sustained minimum damage. The fire is currently under investigation at this time. The
Defreestville and Castleton Fire Departments covered the town of East Greenbush while crews
operated on the scene of the structure fire. No injuries were reported on scene. Crews
had the fire under control within 30 minutes. |
