5/11/2019 CAR FIRE AT EAST GREENBUSH LITTLE LEAGUE FIELD. By Mike Benson Jr.
On May 11, 2019 at 1307hrs the members of the East Greenbush Fire
Department were dispatched by the Town of East Greenbush Emergency
Communications Center for a fully involved vehicle fire at 79 Gilligan Road.
District
Chief R. Lehmann (Car 1), Assistant Chief J. Tooker (Car 2), and Assistant Chief M.
Benson, Jr (Car 4) arrived moments after the dispatch along with EGPD units and
confirmed a working vehicle fire in the middle of the parking lot. Engine 7
responded shortly after dispatch under the command of Captain N. Liuzzi with a
crew of 5.
The crew from Engine 7 made a quick and aggressive knock of the fully
involved fire in less than 10 minutes, and kept the fire from spreading to other
vehicles in the parking lot. Car 1 declared a signal 20 and all units were back in
service shortly after overhaul was completed. At the time of the fully involved
vehicle fire the parking lot was fully occupied.
