Volunteer Doesn’t Mean Free

Maintaining a capable volunteer fire company still requires a significant annual operating budget.

1

Fire Stations

Our stations require a significant annual budget for everything from heat and lights to repairs and improvements.

2

Firefighter Training

Funding supports firefighter training and participation in regional firematic cross-training, along with weekly training refreshers.

3

Public Education

Firefighters and Auxiliary members meet with schools, day care centers, civic groups and senior centers to teach fire safety.

Why We Ask for Your Support

A Message From the East Greenbush Fire Company

Thank you for making a donation to the East Greenbush Fire Company.

We are an all-volunteer, 501C, non-profit organization, dedicated to the protection of life and property throughout 15 square miles of responsible territory in the towns of East Greenbush and Schodack in Rensselaer County New York.

Operating out of three neighborhood fire stations, certified volunteers respond without compensation, from home or work, to answer the several hundreds of alarms received every year.

But our fire stations, as necessary as they are, require a significant annual budget, for everything from the heat and lights to repairs and improvements.

A significant budget item sets aside funding related to firefighter training and participation in regional firematic cross-training. All members receive a minimum basic training and weekly training refreshers.

Another important budget allocation funds our Fire Safety through Public Education program. Throughout the year, our Firefighters and Auxiliary meet with school groups, day care centers, civic organizations and senior centers, to talk about fire safety, providing literature and demonstrations.

These are special opportunities for our residents, especially children, to talk about such topics as how to operate a fire extinguisher, “fire drills in the home”, the important role of home smoke detectors, the meaning of “911” and other safety topics that kids or adults might not otherwise think about.

Your donation will help support all of our operating expenses.

Thank you from the men and women of the East Greenbush Fire Company.
